Dearest Gentle Knitter,
As the social season of the ton has been put to rest until warmer days, it is the deep desire of this author to both knit and wear a shawl that not only looks more complicated than it actually is but is also worked with a yarn of such lightness that defies its gauge. A shawl such as this might also be patterned in such a way so as to make best use of however much yarn is left in a lady’s stash so that one could merely keep knitting until running out of yarn.
As if such a thing would ever happen to this author.

A companion piece to the Lady Whistledown Cowl for those wanting more coverage or just a larger project, the shawl version here changes up the color order of the dip stitch pattern for a fun effect.

Knit up in a light, woolenspun DK weight yarn, the shawl is both lofty and warm--and pretty easy to knit. Great for working on while you binge watch Bridgerton or anything else.

If you wish to substitute for a different yarn, be aware that the Rowan Felted Tweed is woolenspun rather than worsted spun. This results in a much loftier fabric at the pattern’s gauge than otherwise. Using a typical, superwash merino DK weight may result in a much heavier shawl (ask me how I know….).

Materials:
4 skeins of Rowan Felted Tweed Colours (191 yds/50 g, shown in Jade) in the Main Color (MC) and
4 skeins of Rowan Felted Tweed (191 yds/50 g, shown in French Mustard) in the Contrasting Color (CC), or
approximately 740 yds of the MC and 725 yds of the CC in DK/light worsted weight yarn.
(Note that Rowan Felted Tweed Colours in Chartreuse can be substituted easily. The shades are nearly the same.)
A 32” size 6 (4 mm) circular needle or size needle required to achieve gauge,
A tapestry needle for weaving loose ends
