Lafitte Shawl
errata below
The city of New Orleans has much to offer -- food, music, art, history…the list goes on and on. But just a few miles outside the city lies wilderness, and as much as I love a great city, I always long for the wild.
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve offers visitors easy access to Louisiana swampland. On my visit Yellow Tops were blooming, swamp grasses swayed in a fall breeze, and a large alligator sunned himself on a rise across from a walkway.
The Lafitte Shawl incorporates themes from the swamp, including butterflies, and the spiky tips of Palmetto leaves.
Techniques used include lace, nupps, and cables. The original design shown is knit in Lost City Silk colorway Rumplestilskin. This pattern is charted, and includes placement for beads.
Finished size: Wingspan 72 inches, Center Spine 32 inches.
ERRATA: Please note that there was an omission on Row 31 of the Fritillaries Chart of v.1.0.
Row 31 should be --k5, yo, cdd, yo-- (repeat as needed) k5.
ERRATA: If you have the Lafitte Shawl pattern 2013 please note that an error exists and has been corrected in the Lafitte Shawl 2013 v.1.1 Row 13 of the Yellow Top Flowers Chart should have a k2tog in the cell to the left of the first blue beaded cell.
