This sophisticated skirt is quick and easy to make and is suitable for a relative beginner. It is seamless and requires only a knowledge of how to knit and purl, and use a cable needle. The sizing is very forgiving and customizable so it makes a great gift. And since two garments are always better than one, it does double-duty as an elegant bulky cowl. So what are you waiting for? Yarn: 2-3 skeins (250-375m/272-408 yds) of Diamond Luxury Traditional Chunky (125m/136yds per 100g), or any similar weight worsted yarn,colourway pictured is 1803.

Needles: a 24in 5mm cable needle (US 8), a 24in 6mm cable needle (US 10), or sizes to obtain gauge

Other handy items: a craft needle for weaving in yarn ends and a measuring tape

Gauge: 15 sts and 18 rows per 4in(10cm) square

Sizing: Please note that this skirt is quite stretchy and is designed to have some negative ease (aka cling). The size chart below represents the finished measurements of the skirt itself, but it will stretch 4-5 inches horizontally to accommodate a larger body measurement. If you wish to wear it only as a cowl, the Extra Small size will fit as shown in the photos; the larger sizes will make lovely longer draped cowls. When in doubt, swatch, swatch, swatch!
