Lake Shore Cowl
There is a lake in the Colligate Peaks Wilderness outside of Buena Vista, CO that I used to go to when life was a little too much. In a lot of ways, the mountains became as foundational to my security; Mother Earth embraced me. A few miles in the Denny Creek Trail, in the shadow of MT Yale lays a beautiful mountain lake. I had a lot of fear as a kid but the wilderness never scared me. First, I went with my father, then I went on my own. The water was cold and clear and when you look up the mountain guards over. I always felt nurtured and protected in these hills. It is similar to the feeling I get when I wrap myself in hand knits. This cowl is my expression of that feeling of warmth and security at the lake.
The lines in this cowl represent the gentle waves washing on the shore. It’s half shawl construction gives the garment a drape that allows the waves to stand out on your body. It is always in motion. Knitting with the DK weight yarn allows for a warm and cozy experience.
This is a quick and easy knit, requiring less than one skein of yarn.
