Lakeway Beret
Lakeway Beret is knit from the brim to the i-cord tippy top, with fair isle patterning along the way. The crown has beautiful patterning within wedge-shaped sections achieved by Centered Double Decreases. The flat aspect of the hat is produced by washing and blocking on a plate or flat disc of cardboard cut to size.
Great for using up your stash!
This pattern is graded using gauge differences. You may need a different needle size from suggested, depending on your tension.
Gauge Size 1:
26 sts and 28 rnds = 4x4in 10x10cm in Fair Isle pattern on larger needles to give correct gauge, after blocking.
Gauge Size 2:
24 sts and 26 rnds = 4x4in 10x10cm in Fair Isle pattern on larger needles to give correct gauge, after blocking.
Finished measurements
Brim depth 2 (2 1/2) in 5 (5.5) cm
Circumference at brim 21 3/4(23 1/2) in 55 (60) cm Diameter at widest point 9 (9 3/4) in 23 (24.5) cm Note: All measurements are given after blocking.

Needles
For Size 1 16in 40cm circular needles in sizes US 1 2.25mm and US 2 2.75mm DPNs in size US 3 3.25mmf 4 or 5), or your preferred circular needles for working short circumferences in the rnd.
For Size 2: 16in 40cm circular needles in sizes US 2 2.75mm and US 3 3.25mm DPNs in size US 2 2.75mmf 4 or 5), or your preferred circular needles for working short circumferences in the rnd.
Because this pattern is graded using gauge differences you may need a different needle size from given, depending on your tension. The above needles are recommendations only.
Always use the correct needles needed to achieve gauge.
