This is a pattern for an Estonian shawl featuring two distinct Estonian stitches, both enhanced by nupps. There are two methods contained within the pattern for knitting nupps. Together the stitches make a stunning summer shawl. The second edging is added last using the kitchener stitch, and does not show at all.

The shawl measures 22 inches x 72-74 inches, and requires approximately 1250 yards of lace weight yarn.

Both stitches are both charted out and written out line by line.

The yarn used in the sample is Helen’s Lace by Lorna’s Laces, and is not dyed. (This yarn is no longer available, but any of the heavier lace weight yarns will work with this pattern).
