Lane's Drumstick Bag
Played by actress actor Keiko Agena, Lane Kim was the last actor character to be cast., and she Keiko was 26 years old when she won the role of Lane Kim. Aided by her best friend since kindergarten, Rory, Lane leads a double life throughout the series. In Sseason 1 of Gilmore Girls, she plays a 15-year-old. Raised in a strictly traditional and religious Korean household, Lane longs to be a typical American teenager who can listen to whatever music she likes, wear make-up, date non-Koreans, and dress how she chooses. Aided by her best friend since kindergarten, Rory, Lane leads a double life throughout the series. While Lorelai and Rory offer a haven to Lane to be herself at their home, she becomes adept at hiding her books, music, clothes, and makeup beneath her bedroom floorboards, in hollowed-out books, under her mattress, and in her closet, away from the prying eyes of her mother, Mrs. Kim. But when a music shop opens in Stars Hollow, Lane finds her calling at the drum set—she persistently persuades the shop owner, Sophie, to allow her band to practice quietly after hours. While the drums and her desire to be a musician drive Lane and Mrs. Kim apart after she leaves Seventh-Day Adventist College, they eventually bring mother and daughter back together when Mrs. Kim becomes Hep Alien’s band manager.
Rock on, Hep Alien! Knit in the round from the top down, this self-striping drumstick bag would surely be one of the treasures Lane kept hidden from Mrs. Kim beneath her floorboards. Due to the nature of the chevron pattern, rainbow zig zags create bold striping and naturally wavy edges with just one skein of yarn. At the bottom, the bag is closed at the bottom with a 3-needle bind off. At the top, a double-YO eyelet round creates holes for a twisted rope cording to pass through and cinch shut at the top. Although sized for standard drumstick length, the bag can effortlessly be lengthened or shortened for differently sized drumsticks or even knitting needles!
