Lanhydrock
Lanhydrock House is a Tudor Manor in Cornwall set in nearly 1000 acres of land ranging from woodland to formal gardens. The house was rebuilt in the 1880s following a fire, and has been restored to show life in the Victorian Era. The grounds include a church (pictured) which was used by the Robartes family who owned the house for many generations.
The lace motif of this shawl is reminiscent of the church windows, and also reflects the formality of the gardens. Worked from the top down using a garter stitch tab, the delicate lace fabric gives a beautiful drape. The option of using beads in the bind off gives more weight to the edge.
There is a doll-sized version of this shawl Little Lanhydrock which is also available from my Ravelry store. Both shawls can be made using one skein (550 yds) of Swan’s Island Natural Colors Merino Silk, or other laceweight yarn which gives the correct gauge.
