Lantern Festival Cowl
I have made this pattern free. It was inspired by the decor in Chinatown during the Lunar New Year celebrations, my favorite holiday in NY, and the displays in stores and restaurants. I think they are beautiful, but trying to make money off the imagery made me uneasy, so I have made the pattern free.
Recently there has been a surge of vile hate driven attacks against the Asian community including in the neighborhood and community that inspired this cowl. Here is a list of anti-Asian violence resources.

The large size is made using Worsted Weight yarn on US size 5 needles.
Gauge: 12 stitches and 13 rows per 2 inches
This cowl is knit in the round on circular needles. To do the finishing work on this cowl you need to be comfortable stitching lining in place with a tapestry needle. There is also an optional step of crocheting into a line of stitching at the neckline to keep it from stretching out, this was done on the worsted weight example, and requires basic crochet skills.
Please note the yardage requirements listed in the pattern. There is a difference between the fingering and worsted yardages despite the fact that they are knit the exact same way. If you use a different gauge or yarn, which I encourage, make sure you have enough yarn or can easily buy more.
