This Lantern Shape Christmas Bauble is super quick to make and looks fantastic on any Christmas tree. It’s an ideal last minute gift or home decoration.

You will require some knowledge to be able to use this crochet pattern, however it has been written so it’s suitable for beginners too. It’s also a no-sew pattern - always a plus!

Materials Needed

• Yarn: DK cotton yarn. I used Rico Design Ricorumi DK in the following colours: Yellow (1 gram = 2.3 m/ 2.5 yds) and Green (11 grams = 25.5 m/ 28 yd).
• Crochet hook: Size 2.5mm (or 2.75mm/C in the US will work as well)
• Other materials: Stuffing, needle, scissors, stitch marker

Christmas Bauble Size

With the yarn and hook mentioned above, the Lantern Shape Bauble turned out to be approximately 8cm/3.2” high (excluding the hanging yarn thread) by 6cm/2.3” wide. Please note the size of your make will vary depending on your hook size, the yarn you use, and your tension/gauge.

Gauge

Gauge is not required for this pattern, however for reference my gauge was as follows:

7 sc stitches on 2.5 cm / 1 “
7 rows on 2.5 cm / 1 “

• Pattern terms: US terms
• Stitches used: Magic circle, sc, increases, decreases, crocheting in BLO
• Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
• Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing appearing through your stitches.
• Working in rounds: All parts within this pattern are worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.
• No sew project: Other than for weaving in your yarn ends and adding the string, this is a no sew crochet project.
