Large Squid Blanket
Pattern for a Large Squid Tapestry / Throw. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.
This is a very large blanket length wise!
All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)
You will need 1 skein of White (A), 12 skeins of Black (B), 7 skeins of Teal (C) & 1-3 skeins of Blue (D) yarn to complete this pattern. You will only need 1 skein of blue if you don’t plan on carrying the yarn through the entire pattern but you will need more like 3 skeins if you plan on carrying it through the entire pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards/skein.
I recommend carrying the Black (B) & Teal (C) through the entire pattern to keep it even. You can also carry the Blue (D) through the entire pattern. I would only carry the white yarn in the two eye spots.
I designed this with glow in the dark yarn in mind but that is optional of course. You are welcome to modify whatever you like and use whatever colors you like.
I also have a smaller version of this pattern available crocheted from the side with less detail.
I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook.
The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn) A border can increase the size and give the project a more finished look.
It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.
150 stiches wide by 244 rows tall
