Larix lyallii, or subalpine larch, is found at high altitude in the mountains of southern Alberta. Subalpine larch are deciduous coniferous trees – they lose their needles, which drop after turning a stunning bright yellow in fall. The colour of fall larch trees, surrounded by their dark green coniferous brethren, is the inspiration for this mohair-striped cowl.
