Lása means “lace” in Gaelic.

I found a beautiful vintage lace pattern from a 1918 pattern book and rewrote it to create the lovely lace cuffs on these toe-up socks.

Knit toe to cuff; the lace cuffs are knit perpendicularly to the body of the sock. One stitch from the sock will be decreased away every other row of the cuff.

Note on blocking: the little points on the lace cuffs are a bit tricky to block. I had good results using my steam iron to gently press them out.

8/4/14: a couple of notes! The first round of the toe includes a M1L and M1R. You could do an increase of your choice (backward loop, kfb) if you find it hard to do that increase on the first round.
