Named after and dedicated to my beautiful late mother, Isnelata (iz-nay-lah-tah) - the Lata Sweater is an ultra-modern, super squishy, lightweight and cozy drop shoulder pullover worked seamlessly from the top down. Featuring stylish and trendy European shoulders, and flattering diagonal lines that travel along its front side, the Lata Sweater is a pullover that’s sure to become your new Fall/Winter wardrobe fave!

CONSTRUCTION

The Lata Sweater begins at the back neckline, from which you’ll work decorative increases on either side of your cast on, in order to shape the shoulder slopes. You’ll then work straight down, back and forth, until you’ve reached the depth indicated for your size. Stitches are then picked up and knitted along the shoulder slopes, in order to shape the left and right sides of the front panel. When both sides of the front panel are complete, you’ll then join the two together and again, work back and forth until you’ve reached the indicated depth for your size.

The Front and Back Panels are then joined to begin the body of the sweater. The Body is worked entirely in the round, completed with a hem featuring twisted ribbing, and finally sealed off with the Italian Bind-Off.

The sleeves are then picked up, knitted and worked straight down, in the round until a few inches before the cuff begins. From there, a set of decorative decreases are worked to shape the sleeve bottom and is finally finished, again, with a twisted rib cuff and the Italian Bind-Off. Last but not least, stitches are picked up around the neckline, where you have the option to knit either a mock neck or folded collar.

This sweater is designed to be worn with approximately 4-8” (10-20 cm) of positive ease.To find your ideal size, measure your bust circumference, then add your desired ease. Finally, pick the finished bust circumference closest to that number.

The sample shown is knitted in size S with approximately 6” (15cm) of positive ease.

NEEDLES

US 8/5mm circular knitting needles, 16”/40 cm and 32”- 40”/80 - 100 cm
US 7/4.5mm circular knitting needles (for collar) and DPNs (for sleeve cuffs)

You may use a longer circular needle for the sleeve cuffs if you prefer to use Magic Loop over DPNs for small circumference knitting. These needle sizes are only suggestions - use the size that will give you the correct gauge.
