Lattice
Need a simple and elegant piece for cool mornings as we transition into spring or fall?
I am continually struck by the simple beauty of lattices, in particular the lattice that runs along the top border of my backyard fence. It is a beautiful place for plants to grow and birds to perch in the spring and summer, but with this design, I wanted to capture the lattice in a different light. Winter in Minnesota is a mixture of white and many shades of brown and the lattice can stand out starkly against the snow. It is this contrast that informed my color selection.
While the original inspiration for the colorwork pattern was a lattice, it is also evocative of tilework and stain glass windows. I hope that you will enjoy knitting this colorwork cowl and I want to encourage you to use colors that bring joy and meaning to you.
If you are leery of colorwork charts, do not worry because – I included written directions.
