I needed a cowl for a handmade swap gift and couldn’t find exactly the pattern I visualised. What was there to do but to come up with one?
This cowl works with one skein. Perfect for those of us who collect gorgeous hand dyed skeins that are one of a kind and then cannot find the perfect project for only 100g of wool.

The stitch is based on Barbara Walker’s ‘Quilted Lattice’ stitch that I found in her stitch library and is deceptively simple. This cowl works up quickly, while looking spectacular.
More experienced knitters might like to colourwork the strands for added effect.

Tip on yardage : To use your skein of wool with minimal wastage, weigh your ball prior to knitting. Once you have finished knitting the first rib section of your cowl, weigh your skein again. This then will tell you how much yardage you will need to complete the rib at the end of the cowl. Continue knitting repeats of the pattern until you have the right yardage to do the finishing rib.
