Laufey Bolero
I was heavily pregnant with my son in mid-Autumn. At that time I had a hard time finding pretty things that fit me, kept me warm and were fashionable. After his birth, I found breastfeeding in winter to be freezing. Ponchos and jumpers just got in the way of breastfeeding.
I got sick of wearing tracksuit material, or stretchy fabric and I had a definite shortage of cardigans or boleros to at least keep my arms warm. My friend Ruth is due to have her son in mid-winter. She feels the cold more than I do. I designed this bolero to keep her warm.
This pattern does not have to be worn by a pregnant woman or a new mother - it is suitable for anyone and can be dressed up or down - but it does make a nice gift for the mother to be or new mother in your life. Happy Mother’s Day!
