Laugarhuen is a tribute to the amazing community driven sauna Laugaren in Bergen, where you’ll meet me as one of the sauna masters. Find @bergenlaugarlag on Instagram, or book your next ticket on www.laugaren.no.

Laugarhuen is knitted sideways in garter stitch. Short rows shape the pointed top, to create space for air to keep your head cool in hot saunas. The loop on top is optional, but practical for drying and storing on a peg. You can alter the width of your hat by knitting more or fewer garter rows than the pattern calls for, and the length/height by casting on more or less stitches. After knitting, felt the hat thoroughly in a washing machine.

Size
S - M - L
Note that felting and choice of yarn will have a large impact on size.

Yarn
Finullgarn by Rauma or Ask by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, held double.
100g - 100g - 150g
Optional yarn held single: Vams by Rauma, Fritidsgarn by Sandnes Garn.
Or similar yarn. It is of the utmost importance that the yarn is pure wool and can be felted. Do not use superwash treated yarn.

Needles
Needle 6 mm, or a size that fits your chosen yarn. It should be a bit looser knitted than you would normally want, so there is room for proper felting.
