Where are babies before they arrive here? Sitting laughing on a star!

This baby blanket has instructions given in two different sizes and versions but is easily adaptable to other sizes.

It is quick and fairly easy to make.

Instructions are both written and charted. The written instructions for the chart give the version with purl stitches on a stockinette background which is how the variegated small version was worked.
It gives an illusion design effect. You can see the design at some angles…hard to photograph especially with this yarn!
I did a stem stich embroidered outline to show design better in photograph!

The blue bigger version was worked using intarsia and stranded colour work instead, substituting contrast coloured knit stitches for the purl stitches.

Alternatively the charted section could be worked completely in stockinette and then embroidered following the chart in duplicate or cross stitch.

The eyelet pattern is quick and easy to work.
Instructions for an optional easy knitted on lace border are given. It looks lovely without it as well!

The photos show the blanket not blocked. I don’t really think many new Mums will have time to block babyblankets! Blocking would open out the eyelet design a little more.
