The classic look of a scarf with contrasting ends inspired the design of Laura’s Scarf v.2. The geometric ends create a bold statement using garter stitch and the same lace design as the body of the scarf.

Laura’s Scarf is knit in DK weight yarn using size 8 (5.0mm) needles so it knits up rapidly. The garter stitch is used with lace to add pizzazz to a classic scarf. Use a luxury yarn for an extravagant feel. The texture of this scarf is fantastic!

I received a request for a scarf for a “potential girlfriend” in lavender and “oh–yeah, by Christmas!” I wanted a fast knit that was attractive and fun to knit.

As Laura’s Scarf developed, a range of design elements emerged. Several scarf patterns were developed with the different design elements. Charts from one scarf pattern may be substituted into another pattern for a customized scarf.

Stitches/techniques used: knit, purl, k2tog, SSK, yarn over, cast on, bind off.
Skill level is Beginner

Gauge is not critical. The sample scarf is 9” wide and 62” long blocked. Blocking is not critical but does add length and width to the scarf and opens up the lace pattern.

A huge thank you to my test knitters, they find so many things that make the pattern better for everyone.
