Lavendula Mittens
The lavendula mittens were inspired by experimentation with black beans as a natural dye source with Clun Forest fiber (a threatened breed in the US). The dyeing resulted in several shades of bluish-grey and green, which resembled the colors of my lavender plant. The sample shown is size L.
Clun Forest sheep are white with dark brown faces and legs. As reported by the Livestock Conservancy, their wool is medium, with a staple length of 6-10 cm. Fiber diameter ranges between 25-33 microns. The wool is dense, relatively free from kemp and black fibers, and uniform in quality.
