I work in a yarn shop and have been noticing that 2020 seems to be the year of the hat. Knitting hats has become super popular and I wanted to make up a pattern you could knit during one lazy day, hence, ‘Lazy Monday’.
The pattern uses right and left twists that create a faux braid/diagonal basket-weave pattern, similar to entrelac . The pattern has also been written for both Chunky and Super Bulky weight yarns, but with the pattern being a simple 10 stitch repeat, it can be easily adaptable to any weight yarn.

Sizing:
Sizes range from Child Small to Adult Large

Yarn:
The pattern calls for either Chunky, or Super Bulky weight yarn. I used Malabrigo Rasta (90 yards) for my Super Bulky yarn in ‘Matisse Blue’ and I used Colour Adventures Sweet Merino Chunky (120 yards) in ‘Dainty’ for the Chunky version Sadly, Sweet Merino Chunky is no longer a base that Colour Adventures Yarn is using, but Malabrigo Chunky would be. Great substitute.

Needles:
Chunky Version: 5.50mm and 6.50mm needles with 16” cord and 6.50mm DPN’s or Magic Loop

Super Bulky Version: 8.00mm and 9.00mm needles with a 16” cord and 9.00mm DPN’s or Magic Loop

Gauge:
Chunky: 15 sts / 4”

Super Bulky: 11 sts / 4”

• Darning Needle
