This long narrow scarf is designed to be draped loosely around your neck in summer, looking elegant and not overheated. The soft, squashy yarn will take you into autumn if you wind the scarf cosily around your neck instead.

With neat decorative borders, you can work the main body without worrying about charts or keeping track of a pattern. It is the perfect project for lazing on holiday or while traveling; just relax and knit. The dropped stitch ladders open up the simple stocking stitch (stockinette) fabric you’ve knitted, so you get more scarf for less effort. A great novice knit or quick gift, the worsted yarn makes it grow quickly. It really is a lazy knit!

Choose a neutral such this beautiful teal, or go for a hot splash of colour. Semi-solid or variegated yarns will look gorgeous too.
