This is a lace shawl with four sequential patterns that requires 2 full skeins of sock yarn if knit as written. It is designed modularly, so it can be scaled up or down. The chart for each pattern section ends with the correct number of stitches either to repeat the chart or to go on to the next chart. Therefore each knitter can decide to make an individual section larger or smaller based on desired size or available yarn. This also allows the pattern to be used with different weights of yarn.
