This is a lovely way to use those hand painted skeins of yarn in a way that shows off the color! Use the color as a backdrop for a structured “lattice” design and then drape it about your neck!

I was inspired by a particular skein of Malabrigo’s Silky Merino in the Arco Iris colorway. Searching through my stitch dictionaries I came upon a two color lattice, and adapted it to work in the round with a stockinette stitch background. Though it looks complicated, half of the rounds are worked using only the background color, slipping the foreground sts until you need to work the lattice-magic. It’s all knits and purls with a little magic in the middle!

options for sizing are “single” where you use one skein each of the background and foreground colors (assuming you are using Malabrigo Silky Merino) which results in a neckwarmer with a lot of coverage. The “double” uses almost two skeins of each color and results in a true-cowl which can be pulled up over the head and still keep the neck warm! Lucious indeed, the silk and merino together have fabulous drape and are very warm!
