Description

• The Jacket is knit from the neck down with leaf patterned yoke and lace skirt and sleeves.

• The bonnet is knit in garter stitch with leaf crown and ribbon ties around neck.

• Bootees have lace cuffs and twisted ties with tassles.

• The instructions are written with no schematics or charts.

In the “Forever Favorites--Fifty years of Family Classics” by Leisure Arts this pattern was changed just slightly--32 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches instead of 8.5 sts/inch, and they recommend Patons Kroy 3 Ply for the yarn and don’t mention the Beehive Baby yarn.

Patons #1092 contains only the jacket with a ribbon tie at the neck.

Bernat #530229 is currently available, and has two sizes -0/3mos and 6/12 mos. Gauge is 24 sts and 32 rows = 4”. References Bernat Softee Baby yarn. Instructions are in modern American wording. There is a chart for the leaf pattern, and sketch of the finished sweater with length of arms, cuffs, neck, etc.
