Who says knitting needs to be with yarn? These earrings are a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the technique of knitting with wire. It’s more challenging because of the tiny needles and unfamiliar materials, but the results are both striking and lovely. Be prepared to brag a little: You’ll definitely be asked where you got your earrings when you wear them out!
Wire:
30-gauge Argentium or sterling silver wire (about 6’) cut into 2 3’ (91 cm) pieces
30-gauge gold wire- 1 each for the wrapping and sewing (about 10’ cut into 2 5’ (152 cm) pieces
2 French ear wires 0.028” (.7mm) approximately 1” x 1/2” (2.5 cm x 1 cm)
Notions:
Needle- or round-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Clear epoxy or jewelers’ cement
Toothpick or pin (for placement of epoxy)
Jewelers’ tweezers
