Leaf Lace
A little cropped cardigan with a hint of geometric leaf lace, perfect for days where your weather wishes don’t quite line up with reality yet.
The sample was made with overdyed, reclaimed lambswool bouclé, and should work well with wools, wool mixes, and silk. A few alternative suggestions: King Cole Baby Comfort (4 ply), RYC Cashcotton (4 ply), Artesano (4 ply)
The lace and neck edging are knit sideways on two double pointed needles in the smaller size. The bottom lace panels are knit first, blocked, and the body and sleeve stitches are picked up from the top edge. The body is worked in one piece to the underarms. The edging is knit together with stitches picked up along the neck edge. The button band is knit separately and sewn on. 12 to 15 3/8” (1cm) buttons are required, depending on the size.
The lace pattern is worked right sides only, and is both charted and written out.
