The Leaping Dolphin motif can be made with any weight of yarn and suitable hook, if you use heavier yarn it will be bigger, lighter yarn it will be smaller. I used DK because it worked up the perfect size for the side of a hat.

The pattern is currently untested, so if you come across any confusion or inaccuracies please let me know and I will check and amend.

I used a light grey for the underside of the dolphin and a darker grey for the top. Once stitched onto my hat I added an eye with black yarn and a french knot.
