This pattern is part of a guided “Learn to Knit” series designed by an elementary teacher. The checkerboard stitch is made by creating alternating squares of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch. It relies on switching between knitting and purling within a row as you did for the ribbed and pique rib facecloths.
