Learn to Knit Cowl, is a simple introduction to knitting in the round, lace, ribbing and stockinette - all in one pattern. And it makes a cozy accessory you will love to wear or gift.

This is the first in a series of “Learn to Knit” projects I’m planning to help new or inexperienced knitters gain confidence in my knitting classes. Stay tuned for video tutorials to support this and my other “Learn to Knit” projects.

This pattern is written (no charts) and has been test knitted in a class, however, if you encounter a problem please feel free to message me.

The yarn used in my sample is sadly discontinued but I plan to knit another sample using Lion Brand Homespun. If you are not a fan, please use a comparable “bumby” yarn that is bulky weight. You’ll need at least 170 yards (less than one skein).

Notions
US size 8 (5 mm) circular needle, 60” (152 cm) long.
Darning needle for weaving in tails.

Gauge:
I always recommend knitting a swatch but the nice thing about this is the pattern is very forgiving and should fit just about anyone.

Techniques used
Knitting in the round, lace, ribbing and blocking.

Level of Expertise: Beginner
