Learning to knit lace can be challenging, but this pattern is designed to be a simple introduction to many of the major techniques used in knitted shawls. From garter tab cast on through a simple lace body pattern, then on to lace on two sides and a knit-on lace border, Learning to Fly will teach you the basics of knitting lace and give you a pretty shawlette to wear at the end!

This pattern is also designed to work well with any highly variegated fingering weight yarn you have in your stash. Instructions are also included for resizing the shawl for a greater or smaller amount of yarn.

Enjoy!

Errata: In the written instructions for Body (Part 1), Row 19, it should read “repeat to thirteen stitches before end” rather than twelve. New PDF will be uploaded soon!
