Leaves & Buddies is a spin-off of my sweater design, Leaves & Buds! This fun stranded pattern comes in 3 sizes and two different styles: a full hat and a ponytail hat, each with a long or short option, depending on your desired fit. The long version will be a little slouchy and the short version will be more of a fitted beanie. Knit one for all of your buddies!

Hat is knitted in the round from bottom to top, beginning with a ribbed brim and changing to a colorwork pattern which is charted. Decreases for crown shaping are included in charts.

Finished measurements:
Circumference all styles: 17.5”,(20.75”),24.5”.
Height: Tall hat: 9”, Short hat: 7.5”, Tall Ponytail hat: 8.25”, Short Ponytail hat: 6.75”.

Yarn:
DK/Worsted weight yarn. Both are used in pattern. You will need 2 contrasting colors.

Suggested yarn:
Sample 1, Tall hat: Main color (MC): Neighborhood Fibre Co. Studio Worsted (113g/200yds) in color Reservoir Hill (navy); Contrast color (CC): Spincycle Yarns Dream State (50g/150yds) in color Castaway (orange/grey).

Sample 2, Short hat: MC: Spincycle Yarns Dream State in color Light Years (green/yellow); CC: The Farmers Daughter Fibers Pishkun (100g/255yds) in color York (dark blue).

Sample 3, Tall Ponytail hat: MC: Spincycle Yarns Dream State in color Miss Me (green/pink); CC: Neighborhood Fibre Co. Studio Worsted in color Reservoir Hill (navy).

Sample 4, Short Ponytail hat: MC: Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK in color Graphite (black); CC: Spincycle Yarns Dream State in color Slow Burn (purple).

Yarn Requirements:
Approximately 130-150yds MC, 110-125yds CC, depending on size and style of hat.

Yarn requirements are approximate and may differ depending on yarn choice.

Needles: US 6, US 8 16” circular needles or double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Longer circular needles for magic loop or double-pointed needles in larger size for crown shaping.
