I am always inspired by my favorite season—the fall. I’ve wanted to do a leaf color-work hat for a while but didn’t really want to dive into intarsia yet. Then I discovered a lovely technique called double knitting. This allows you to create two layers of fabric with no floats since you work each color every other stitch. Plus this method has the added bonus of creating a reversible fabric.

The hat is knit in the round and is seamless except at the start point where there is a small hole which will be seamed up at the end. This hole allows you to thread the optional elastic to give you a snugger fit since the hat should not be too tight or it will distort the image.
