This asymmetrical shawl creates a drape of leaves or feathers. On one side, it starts with a single leaf and adds nestled layers of offset leaves finishing with the wavy opening of the cornucopia. Flip the shawl over and you will see the dominant feathery motif. This shawl provides an excellent opportunity to practice brioche increases and decreases. The pattern develops on the leaf side of the shawl, the shaping on the feather side. This pattern is both written line-by-line and charted.

Yarn choice Use 2 colors of fingering weight yarn. The sample was knit in Tyche from A Hundred Ravens. Single ply yarn creates a somewhat softer effect, but plied yarns work well, too. This pattern is good for a yarn with color variation for your public side with a more solid private side yarn.

The lighter color pops while the darker color provides the background. While this pattern is written so the Leaf motif appears in the lighter color, you might want to swatch with the colors reversed. This will make the Feather motif on the reverse side dominant.

Size This shawl is infinitely growable. You can get 12 motif repeats on the bind off edge using 400 yards of each color. To get a larger shawl use more yarn. With blocking the shawl stretches more than half again the size of the unblocked knitting.
