Leaves bag
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
The Leaves Bag is worked almost seamlessly from the bottom to the top. First you knit the bottom flat in two sided Stockinette Stitch, then you pick up stitches along the sides to work in the round in Stranded Knitting Technique. The band itself is also knit in the round. Finally, a lining is sewn and then sewn into the bag.
Because the construction of the bag is square it will help to get an extra pair of needles. You can also combine dpn’s for the smaller side panels and one pair of cable needles for the front and back. This might help to get nicely shaped edges.
If you like you can easily adjust the size of the bag by using bigger needles and thicker yarn.
As for the colours: the design is inspired by ‘eco-printing’, a process where the natural colours of plants and leaves are soaked into a cloth. If you want an authentic and natural look, use an off white and green with a yellowish undertone.
