Imagine, that this leaves pattern had once been used to decorate a baby blanket. While knitting the blanket, I thought this pattern is really predestined for a hat. Upon an enquiry by a reader I simply sat down and tried it. And fell in love right away. The hat is knit from the bottom up, the cuff transitioning smoothly into the leaves pattern. Upon repeating the leaves for the third time, the decreasing of stitches almost falls into place and and the hat is finished in no time!

It helps, by the way, to knit the five pattern repeats with an (extended) set of SIX double pointed needles!

The pattern initially describes the one size version MEDIUM. Based on this version, both the smaller as well as the larger size are easily worked out. Moreover, the hat can be knit as a short beanie, fitting more tightly to the head.
