Leeloo
This is the first exclusive pattern from the Women of Sci-Fi Collection
A bi-colour cowl inspired by the Supreme Being Leeloo, the heroine of The Fifth Element.
Using a modular construction, you start with a strip of fabric, just as we first see Leeloo wearing at the start of the movie, and we join as we go to create a spiral of ‘bandages’
Afterwards, stitches are picked up in a contrasting colour to knit a lace border reminiscent of the elemental wavy patterns on the stones. The finished cowl is slightly assymetrical on top with a pretty lace bottom. Although it can’t be used as a weapon to defeat the Great Evil, it will keep you pretty warm!
I have listed as two skeins of yarn but I used approx. 200yds of each colour. The cowl can be worn with the garter bandages on the top or bottom, it’s more squishy and warm around the neck but on a cooler day you could wear the lace around the neck instead. I like to wear mine with the top flap pinned down with a cute enamel pin (I’ll try to get photos of it being worn soon!)
