Leenane Shawl
About:
The Leenane Shawl is named for the village of Leenane, on the border of County Galway and County Mayo, Ireland. This village is known as the gateway to Connemara, and the view is spectacular from all directions.
Leenane—An Lionán in Irish—means ravine referring to the landscape of the sea as it makes its way through the narrows of the fjord to this village.
The striking Aasleagh Falls inspired this shawl with lace cascading through the body of the shawl like the water does down the falls.
This two-skein, crescent-shaped shawl—with both written and charted directions—is easy enough for a confident beginner knitter but interesting enough for an advanced one. Filled with addictive lace and a garter border. This timeless design is very wearable either around the shoulders traditionally or worn around the neck like a scarf.
