The possibilities are endless for this scrappy, colorwork cowl. Alternate between two colors, create contrast cuffs, switch between bold solids and wild speckles - go stash diving or bust into that mini kit you’ve been holding onto - Leftover City relies on simple, graphic colorwork repeats and staggering in new colors, allowing you to practice knitting with two colors without really needing to follow the chart once you get started. I used leftovers from my favorite dyers and projects, all from my stash for the sample, making it one of my most cherished objects to date! I can’t wait to see how your stash and minis inspire you!
375-450 yds total of Fingering weight yarn are required to complete this project. This simple colorwork cowl pattern is intended to use up leftovers/scraps or mini skeins of 10g or more of similar fiber/twist, in as many colors as you want, and 20g of Color A if you want your ribbing to match (as seen in sample). The pattern is written for fingering weight yarns in as many colors as you want (up to 9 as written), but you can use any weight as long as they’re all similar in twist and fiber. Swatching will help!
This pattern is suitable for all levels, and will work with a variety of yarn weights and combinations and exact gauge is not required for this project. Instructions are included for how to calculate your cast on number in your own gauge! This is a great first colorwork pattern!
This pattern includes written instructions and a chart, and has been fully test knitted and professionally tech edited! Small mistakes may still have slipped by us, so if you have any trouble or spot any problems please email me as soon as possible at KaceyKnits@gmail.com and include the pattern name in the subject!
Perfect for your countdown calendar and advent calendar, too!!
