Legend of the Piasa
Legend of the Piasa (pie-a-saw) I had a very special, one of a kind ball of yarn. I love the colors - they make the rods and cones in my eyeballs dance with joy! I had a pattern in mind, but the swatch didn’t turn out quite to my liking, so I set the yarn aside. Recently I wrote a new pattern and decided to try a swatch in this yarn. The swatch turned out just as I imagined, so I proceeded with making the necessary adaptions from worsted to fingering, and I continued to like what I saw. Once I finished the knitting and the bind off I did a preliminary blocking to get the piece relaxed a bit before doing the crocheted border. When I did the final blocking the wingspan opened up into an amazing thunderbird shape, and that, together with the color palate and veined and scalloped wings inspired the name.
