"Leighiche Shawl"
“Leighiche” Shawl
This shawl has been created and inspired from a drawing found in an 1864 pattern book.
Its name comes from the Scots Gaelic word for ’healer’.
It’s a simple knitted triangular shawl, that can easily be enlarged from the stated measurements if required.
Its points can be taken to the back of the body and fastened with a shawl pin, the tails are not long enough to tie together like a sontag.
I have created it using three shades of yarn but would also look lovely in one shade if preferred.
It’s been inspired by my love of Outlander and the Scottish Highlands.
