This blanket is inspired by beautiful all-in-one knitted baby blankets and includes a make-as-you-go border. It is designed to have fewer holes than a typical crochet blanket making it cosy and warm.
Please note that baby blankets should only be used under adult supervision.
A pared-down free version of this pattern (UK terms only), with no photo tutorial, is available from: https://www.fionameadecrochet.com/free-patterns
Level
This pattern is suitable for improving beginners and beyond. It includes video tutorials for all the main stitches and a photo tutorial for the pattern.
Size
The finished blanket is approx 60-65cm x 60-65cm (approx 24-25 x 24-25 inches). I am a reasonably firm crocheter and my blanket comes up at 60cm square. If you are a looser crocheter your blanket will come up a little bigger. The paid pattern includes instructions for how to increase the blanket size.
Choosing your yarn
Consider the end user of your blanket, you may like to use a yarn that can be machine washed or tumble dried. This pattern works well with single colours, as well as speckled and multicoloured yarns.
You will need
225-250g (675-750m) of Double Knit (DK)/ Light Worsted yarn
4mm crochet hook for the main blanket
4.5mm crochet hook for the starting chain (5mm if you are a very tight chainer)
Yarn needle & scissors
This pattern includes a full photo tutorial. Linked video tutorials are included for all the stitches used. Left and right handed versions of the pattern are available as well as versions in UK and US terms. A crochet chart is also included.
