Lemonade
When life gives you lemons – you make lemonade. The lemons in this instance was my not checking the yarn base when ordering extra yarn and ending up with 2 different yarns with the same colour way.
What could I make with these yarns that looked like it was meant to be.
I worked out I had enough yarn to knit and sweater would change from stocking stitch to garter stitch when I switch yarns to hide the different textures and so we have Lemonade.
Lemonade is a top down sweater, knitted all in one piece with raglan sleeves, and a couple nifty tricks to avoid sewing or picking up stitches. The collar is shaped using short rows, so you can knit the collar band, then continue on to body, and under the arms we will use a provisional cast on for the extra underarm stitches, so you don’t have pick them up or sew together a hole.
Here I have knitted the sample in contrasting colours, or you stick with one and let the stitch textures shine on their own.
I hope you enjoy my first sweater design, please let me know what you think, it’s all a learning curve for me right now.
