This pattern was first released in the Spring of 2022 and formed the basis of a mystery Lent knitalong hosted by Victoria Methodist Church in Bristol, UK, and had hundreds of participants around the world.

Each week of Lent, knitters were emailed daily knitting instructions, together with reflections/meditations which had been written by seven Ministers and worship leaders from the Bristol area and beyond.

The mystery nature of the knitalong meant that the participants had no idea what the finished pattern would be, and the designs on each side of the cushion cover were slowly revealed over the seven weeks.

The project is beginner friendly: knitters need to be able to cast on and off, knit, purl and slip stitches.

The pattern was designed so the knitting would be finished on Good Friday, blocked and then sewn up as a cushion cover on Easter day.

Full details of yarn suggestions, gauge, cushion pad size etc, plus a pattern for a swatch are included in the pattern, which has very kindly been formatted into a single document by Helen M (who was also an enormous help during the knitalong, with the admin and logistical side of things, as well as running the Facebook group which many participants used to share their progress/queries and generally to support each other throughout the project!)
