Leopard
Triangular shawl in a two coloured mosaic stitch pattern and a contrasting garter stitch edge.
Finding a name for my designs is sometimes the most difficult part of the process of creation. Originally I had another name in mind for this design but as the shawl grew on my needles I thought it looked more leopard-like. So I changed the name to Leopard and will save the other name for a future design.
Finished measurements:
from side to side 200 cm
from top to bottom at deepest point 82 cm
(after blocking)
Construction:
Body of shawl is worked sideways, and then stitches for the edge are knitted op and worked top down ending with an I-cord.
Yarn:
Fingering weight.
The sample was knit using Miss Babs Yummy 2 ply, (365 m/115 g), colour Lycan (A), Bark (B), and Blue Mussel (C) 1 skein in each colour.
Gauge:
22 sts and 46 rows = 10 cm in garter stitch and in garter stitch mosaic pattern (unblocked).
Needle size:
3.5 mm circular needle, minimum 80 cm.
