The simple pleasures of a baby’s summer are evoked in the retro Simple sunsuit.

The yarn is Cotton Ease, a soft mix of cotton and acrylic from Lion Brand that holds up well through the laundry, and the color is Almond, a creamy light yellow that looks as cool as it is comfortable.

The construction is simple and straightforward: the bottom front and back are started separately and then joined to be worked in the round up to the waistband where the bib and straps continue.

Decreases at the body sides add subtle shaping, and there is plenty of room to accommodate the bulk of a cloth diaper. Two buttonholes on the straps make it easy to adjust the fit.

The leg cuffs are picked up and worked after the crotch seam is sewn. You can, if you like, cast on the crotch stitches provisionally and then graft the crotch, leaving no seams at all.
