Let it Bee
This pattern is written with a graph to follow and is Intermediate Level according to Craft Yarn Council.
Sized for Child ages 11- teen or head circumference of 16”-20 ½”, J/10 (6mm)
Adult-large or head circumference of 21”-24”, K/10.5 (6.5mm)
This is a crocheted pattern using the waistcoat stitch also known as the knit stitch. Giving this a knitted look.
Experience in reading a graph, the waistcoat stitch, backwards join, carrying yarn, and color changing is highly recommended for making this pattern and having experience using these techniques or how to learn these techniques is intermediate level.
I have added videos of these techniques to my Facebook page, “Jennifer’s Stitched Up”. They are in the video sections tab.
There are many YouTube videos on these techniques. I cannot recommend most of them on the waistcoat stitch because unfortunately they are wrong. I can recommend Tamara Kelly of Moogly Blog and The Crochet Crowd. Please know when learning these techniques that they require practice. When I taught myself how to make these designs it took the third try to fit properly. Watching my videos will help a lot.
You will need 4 different colors of worsted weight for this pattern, you will use less than a skein each color and can make a few hats.
Different yarn brands even though worsted have different thicknesses.
I often use Wool of the Andes and Caron Simply Soft. I feel these are more comparable together.
Also, I often use I Love This Yarn, Brava, and Lion Brands Heartland. I feel that these are comparable in thickness when worked together. Please feel free to use any worsted except Caron One Pound.
The overall measurements will be different even if gauge is met if you use a yarn not similar in thickness to what was used. You can see them made in many yarns in my Facebook group.
Connect with me through my Facebook group page “Stitched Up Community.” Please answer the questions to join or you will be denied access to the group.
