About the Pattern
This fun and flirty brioche scarf gets its name from Three Irish Girl’s pretty “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” colourway. Enjoy knitting this two colour brioche scarf with its I-cord border and intuitive, easy-to-memorize brioche pattern, and learn a new way to make a brioche four stitch decrease. This is a great pattern for brioche knitters ready to up their two colour brioche game.

Pattern has been test-knit and tech-edited.

Sizing / Finished Measurements
The pattern is written for one size. Final measurements are 7 1/2˝(19 cm) x 66˝ (168 cm) after blocking. For a wider or longer scarf, work extra repeats of the brioche pattern.

Yarn / Yardage
Approx. 220 yards (200 m) of EACH colour. Sample knit with “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” (colour A) and “Scottish Thistle” (colour B).

Gauge
16 sts and 17 rows in brioche rib with 4 mm (US 6) needles, after blocking.

Needles
4.0 mm (US 6) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circ. 32˝ (80 cm) needles.

Skill Level
Intermediate. Skills used: I-cord CO, two colour brioche knitting, brioche four stitch increase and decrease, and I-cord BO. Links to helpful video tutorials are provided.

Pattern Notes
This scarf begins with an I-cord cast-on and finishes with an I-cord BO; a slipped stitch selvedge is worked for extra detailing. Width can easily be added increasing stitches CO in increments of 16 stitches. You will also be introduced to a new way to work the brioche four stitch decrease which is worked over two rows.

Errata
Set-up Row 2 B: sl2p, (brk1, sl1yo) to last 3 sts, brk1, drop colour B in back of work (do this for every subsequent even-numbered colour B row), sl2p. Turn.
