Let's Knit a Poncho
Let’s Knit a Poncho
I set out to knit a special birthday gift for my dear friend, Lisa. She absolutely loves earth tones and when I saw all of the fantastic colors of this new yarn from Berroco, I knew I had to select one of them and knit something for her. This project changed names and directions a few times along the way, from Lisa’s Poncho to Lisa’s Mystery Poncho, to Mystery Poncho, and finally Let’s Knit a Poncho. We had a Mystery Poncho class with wonderful, adventurous students who knit the poncho from three separate pattern segments. Now that the class had concluded, I have combined them into one pattern to share with you. It’s easy! I hope you enjoy it!
The poncho is approximately 22” deep from the neck edge to the bottom edge x 60” in circumference at the widest part of the bottom. It is knit in the round, from the top down.
Gauge 4 sts./in. Knit in stockinette stitch.
Materials
Three skeins of Berroco, Sesame yarn (100 grams, 230 yards/skein), 43% Wool, 39% Acrylic, 9% Cotton and 9% Nylon. Worsted weight yarn. Pictured color #7407.
Size 9 circular needles in 16”, 24” and 32” lengths. In addition and optionally 47” may be used in Part Three.
Ring Stitch markers – One in one color and 11 in another color for Part Three. Yarn needle.
We LOVE this yarn from Berroco!
Many other light worsted and worsted yarns out there will also work with this pattern.
